Unpopular opinion: those fancy container home kits are a total waste of money
I drove down to a site near Austin last month to check out a friend's build. He went with one of those big name container home kits, paid close to $18,000 just for the flat pack. When they delivered it, half the steel had dents and the seal kit was missing pieces. We spent three full weekends just patching gaps and straightening walls. My own build I did from scratch with a used 40-foot container I found on Craigslist for $2,200. Sure, I had to weld my own door frames and cut windows with a grinder, but it turned out just as solid. All those kits do is make you pay for fancy marketing and a bunch of problems. Has anyone else tried to fix a warped panel from one of those prefab setups?
