Cracked carafe forced me into pour over, no regrets
Ngl, I've been team French press for like 8 years. Bought a cheap 40 dollar one from a shop in Portland and it worked fine until last Tuesday. I went to rinse it out after breakfast and the glass just split down the side, hot water everywhere over my counter. No impact, no sudden temp change, it just gave up. So I grabbed my buddy's old ceramic V60 that's been sitting in my cabinet collecting dust, mostly because I was too lazy to buy a new press. First pour was a mess, too fine a grind, took me 3 tries to get the timing right, but the cup came out cleaner and honestly brighter than anything my press ever made. Now I'm wondering if I was just used to the sludge and never knew better. Anyone else switch methods after an equipment fail and never look back?
