Showerthought: My 'envelope system' was just a shoebox full of receipts for a whole year
Honestly, I tried the whole cash envelope thing for budgeting after seeing it online. For like 12 months, I had this literal shoebox where I'd stuff every receipt for groceries, gas, you name it. I thought I was being so organized. Then my partner showed me this free app called Mint, and we linked our accounts. Ngl, seeing all our spending in actual charts and getting alerts when we went over in a category was a game changer. The shoebox just told me what I already spent, but the app shows me what I'm about to spend before I even leave the house. Has anyone else made a jump from a totally manual system to something automated and been shocked at the difference it makes?
