My cousin in Phoenix tried that 15% thing last year and had to pull money out when his car transmission died. The "don't miss it" line falls apart when real life hits and your budget is too tight. Automatic savings sounds smart until you need cash for an emergency and it's all locked up. Sometimes having that money in your regular checking account is the safer play.
