My dad mentioned his pension payout is only $1,200 a month, and it got me thinking about my own retirement.

Yeah, that's the thing... it feels like the whole idea of a stable retirement is just gone. I see it with my parents' friends too, people who worked solid jobs their whole lives and now they're just... getting by. It makes saving for the future seem impossible, like you're running on a treadmill that keeps getting faster. The math just doesn't work anymore unless you got really lucky or started making crazy money young.

Man that's rough, but I feel you. I got freaked out a few years back and just started putting even a tiny bit into a Roth IRA every month, like way less than I thought I needed. Honestly watching that little pile grow over time, even slowly, made it feel way less impossible. The key for me was just starting with something automatic so I couldn't talk myself out of it.
