I finally paid for a full financial review with a planner

It cost about $1,200, but it showed me I was paying way too much in fees on my old 401k. Has anyone else found a similar service worth the upfront cost?

Totally worth it for the peace of mind.

Peace of mind is so key. I once overpaid for a super basic phone case just because the store had it right then and I didn't want to worry about my screen breaking.

I mean honestly I gotta disagree with everyone here. Twelve hundred bucks to find out you're paying too much in fees? You could've figured that out for free by just logging into your account and looking at the fee disclosure statement they legally have to send you every year. All that money for one meeting and some guy probably just ran your numbers through a basic software program his company bought. If that fee revelation saved you more than $1,200 a year then sure maybe it was worth it but most people's 401k fees aren't that bad to begin with.

$1,200 is steep but at least you found the fee monster - right @alice_barnes35?
