Flipping a plate on top works good too for less air exposure.

Oh man, you get it. Flipping a plate on top works way better than using a lid, right? I started doing that a few years ago and never looked back. It keeps the moisture from sticking to the food and getting all soggy. Plus you don't have to deal with that tight seal that sometimes makes steam build up too fast. I microwave leftovers all the time and a plate is just easier to grab and wash than a specialty cover. Feels like one of those simple tricks that actually makes a difference.
