Serious question, who uses pH testers for quick pickles?
I never do and they come out crisp.

Kitchen experiments? People are really out here acting like making a sandwich needs a safety briefing. It’s just cooking, not a chemistry lab with explosive stuff. Calling it an experiment makes it sound way more serious than it is. I’ve never once felt in danger scrambling some eggs. If your cooking is that risky, maybe you should just order takeout.
