Noticed a big shift in the cedar pickets at my supplier over the last year, way more knots and wane.

The yard manager said it's because the good, clear stock is all going to the big box stores now, so the pro yards get the lower grade, which is a real pain for staining jobs.

But is it really that much worse than last year?

Honestly, my supplier's quality has actually been pretty solid this season.

Wait, didn't I see a whole thread about this on that industry forum last week? Someone was saying their supplier's stuff looked good at first, but then they had a bunch of customer returns because seams were coming apart after a few washes. I mean, maybe it's just me, but that kind of thing makes me double-check everything now. I heard another person say their "solid" batch had inconsistent dye lots, so nothing matched. Makes you wonder what "solid" really means, you know?
