Heads up on the new pressure treated wood rules from the EPA
I was reading the updated fact sheet from the EPA website last night, and the new copper levels they allow in pressure treated wood are way lower than I thought. It's down to 0.06% for above-ground use now, which is a big drop from the old stuff. Anyone else had to explain this change to a customer yet? It's making me double-check my supplier's stock.

Wendy_clark is right about things changing under the radar. Makes you check your own house, you know? I looked at my deck built five years ago and wondered if the old wood is leaching more copper into the soil where my kids play. The new rules might be better for gardens and pets, but now I'm worried about all the old stock still out there.

Honestly, it feels like everything is getting quietly downgraded while the price goes up. You see it with lumber specs, the shrinking size of a bag of chips, thinner sheets of plywood. Makes you wonder what else they've changed the formula on without making a big deal about it.
