That 'perfect' Airbnb in Lisbon cost me $200 extra in hidden fees
Booked a place for a month that looked great online, said it had fast wifi and a workspace. Showed up and the router was in the landlord's locked apartment below, signal was awful. Had to buy a local SIM and data plan just to work, that was $80. Then they charged a 'final cleaning fee' that wasn't in the listing, another $120. Lost a full day of work dealing with it and the money. Anyone know a better way to verify internet speed before booking?

Totally feel your pain on the hidden costs. Had a place in Mexico that advertised air conditioning, but it only worked for four hours a night. Spent a fortune on fans and lost sleep. These fees and bad info just ruin a trip.

Honestly that's just the cost of doing business remotely sometimes. Landlords can't control every variable and listing details can get outdated. A bit of extra homework on the traveler's part would have avoided most of this.
