PSA: The guy at the Chiang Mai co-working space who said 'your life is just a vacation'
He said it after I told him I'd been working from there for eight months. Has anyone else had to explain this isn't a permanent holiday?

Keeping regular hours" is the key part people miss. They see the location but not the routine, which is what actually defines a job versus a trip. How do you even start that talk without sounding defensive?

I just say my work is the same, the desk just has a better view. I had to explain I keep regular hours and still deal with deadlines. It shuts down the vacation talk pretty fast.

Exactly! The view is just a bonus, not the job. My laptop is the same, the meetings are the same, the stress is the same. People only see the beach photo, not the eight hours of spreadsheets that came before it.
