Just realized my $300 noise cancelling headphones were a total waste in Chiang Mai

Bought them thinking I needed them for cafe work, but honestly the coffee shops here are pretty quiet. I've used them maybe twice in four months. Should have just kept my old earbuds. Anyone else buy gear they never actually needed on the road?

Tell me about it, I did the same thing with a fancy travel blanket. Saw it online and pictured myself using it on all these cold flights, but it just lives in the bottom of my bag. It's like we pack for the trip we imagine, not the one we actually take. I totally get what @jackson.sandra means about dead weight, that feeling of carrying something useless for months is the worst. You start to resent the thing and yourself for buying it.

Ugh I feel this so hard. I packed this giant travel pillow that takes up half my backpack because I thought I'd need it for overnight buses. Used it exactly once and it was actually worse than just using my hoodie. Now it's just dead weight I keep dragging around.
