Coworking membership or free cafes - which is the better move for digital nomads?

I spent $250 on a monthly coworking pass in Medellin and got consistent wifi and AC, but stuck in one spot all day. Meanwhile my buddy works from free cafes for zero cost but deals with spotty signal and buying coffee every hour. Does paying for a dedicated space actually help you focus or is it just a waste of cash?

Three hours at a cafe racked up $18 on lattes and I still had to fight a teenager for a wall outlet. Coworking spaces let me spread my junk out everywhere and take calls without getting death stares from the barista. I'd rather pay for peace of mind than stress about my laptop battery dying at 3pm.
