Bali's digital nomad scene is a total productivity trap
I just wrapped up a month in Canggu, and wow, it was a mess for getting work done! Every cafe had spotty Wi-Fi that cut out during video meetings, and the co-working spaces were so loud with socializing. I thought I'd be inspired, but I ended up wasting hours just finding a stable connection. The cost wasn't budget-friendly either, with daily scooter rentals and overpriced smoothies. Plus, the pressure to network felt more like a chore than a benefit. Now I'm in a quiet town in Vietnam with reliable internet, and my focus is back. Seriously, if you're trying to work, skip the trendy spots and go where you can actually think!

Yeah, the whole digital nomad paradise thing can be a real joke. My own attempt at working from a Bali cafe ended with me somehow buying a very expensive juice while waiting for a file to upload, only to have the power cut out. Felt pretty silly paying resort prices to stare at a blank screen. Lesson learned the hard way that good photos online don't mean good internet. Sometimes you just need a boring room with a strong signal to actually finish your work.

Oh, I totally get it. I mean, I went to Bali last year thinking I'd be super productive and instead I basically paid to watch my laptop buffer. I even tried working from one of those fancy co-working spaces and spent the whole time listening to someone's podcast recording out loud. My personal low was taking a video call from a cafe bathroom because it was the only quiet spot, which is just sad. It's all for the vibe, not for actually getting things done. I've since learned my lesson and pick places based on internet reviews, not cool photos.
