Went from guessing client colors to building a physical palette wall in my studio

For years I just picked swatches from my monitor and crossed my fingers. Last month I finally taped up every fabric and paint sample I own to a big corkboard in my Chicago workspace. Now when a client says 'warm neutral' I point at the board and we pick together in 5 minutes instead of emailing back and forth for days. Has anyone else tried a physical reference wall, or do you still trust the screen for color matching?

I really used to think the screen was good enough, but your wall idea totally flips that. Once I started holding actual fabric swatches next to paint chips under my office lights, I saw how wrong my monitor was about warm tones. Now I get why people swear by pulling stuff out in person, it saves everyone a ton of back and forth.
