Vent: Talked to a junior designer at a coffee shop and they said AI is 'just another tool like Photoshop'
Last Tuesday at a cafe in Portland, a kid straight out of school told me AI generates their mood boards in 30 seconds and I asked them if they even know why certain colors work together, has anyone else had that sinking feeling watching the next generation skip the fundamentals?

Oh man that's rough. Did you ask them what happens when the AI gives them a color palette that looks cool but doesn't match the brand's voice or the client's actual audience? Like mood boards are supposed to show you understand the project's feeling not just pretty pictures you found fast. I wonder if they even know how to explain why a warm orange works for a kids toy brand but would be wrong for a fancy medical office. What did they say when you pushed back on it?

@susanm22 yeah I've dealt with this exact thing, just ask them why that color fits the client's vibe not just the algorithm.
