Pro tip: That 10 minute pomodoro break is actually a design reset
I read something last Thursday from a UX guy named Sam who said he treats breaks like a browser cache clear for the brain. At first I thought it was just productivity talk, but I tried it during a nasty logo iteration. Instead of scrolling my phone, I walked to the coffee machine and stared out the window for a full 10 minutes, no screens. When I came back, the kerning issue I'd been fighting for 2 hours just looked obvious, like the letters were practically shouting at me. I've done this every afternoon for the last 5 days and my output feels cleaner, fewer 'undo' commands, less second guessing. Has anyone else tried a strict no-phone break and noticed a real difference in their visual judgment?
Stared at my phone for a 10 min break yesterday and somehow ended up 40 mins deep in videos of people restoring rusty tools, so yeah, my system needs work. Tried the no screen thing today and just watched my neighbor's dog lose its mind at a leaf for the whole time. Came back and fixed a spacing problem in like 2 mins that I'd been going back and forth on all morning. The break felt way longer too, which is weird but nice.
