The $20 felt pad trick that finally stopped my bag straps from slipping

I have this crossbody bag I love but the strap kept sliding off my shoulder every time I walked more than a block. Last Saturday I cut two small felt pads, the kind for furniture feet, and stuck them inside the strap where it rests. Now it stays put through a whole afternoon in the park, zero adjustments. Has anyone else tried a random hardware store fix on a nice bag, or is it just me being cheap?
