Worked in a shared studio space and the guy next to me used keyboard shortcuts so fast I couldn't believe it - are quick keys better than menu clicking?

Menu clicking lets you actually see where everything lives, which is way better when you're still learning the software. Don't you think speed matters less than getting the job done right the first time?

You make a good point about learning the layout, but I see it differently. Speed matters a lot when you're doing real work under a deadline, and menu hunting kills that momentum every time. Once you know the basics of what the software can do, shortcuts let you build a rhythm that menus just can't give you. Plus, getting it done right doesn't mean slow - you can be fast and careful if you know the shortcuts. Don't you find that after a while, menus start feeling like training wheels that hold you back?
