Why does nobody talk about keyboard shortcuts breaking after software updates

Last Tuesday I opened my UI mockup tool and suddenly my custom shortcut for grouping layers just stopped working. I spent a good 20 minutes clicking through menus like a caveman before I checked the update notes and realized the new version reset all my keybindings to default. I rebuilt them from memory but now my muscle memory is all off, I keep hitting the old combo and nothing happens. On one hand I get why they reset things, maybe they changed some internal commands. But on the other hand it feels like a total slap in the face when you've spent months building a workflow around specific keys. Has anyone else dealt with this after a big update, and do you back up your shortcut presets somewhere or just redo them every time?

Rebuilding shortcuts keeps your brain sharp and stops you getting lazy with tools you barely use anyway.
