Warning: That keyboard shortcut I bragged about last week backfired at a client meeting
So I was in downtown Nashville last Tuesday, showing a homeowner some fence designs I threw together in Inkscape. I got all proud of this shortcut I learned, where you hold shift and drag to duplicate objects fast. I kept saying how it saved me like 20 minutes on layouts. Well, I hit the wrong key and accidentally pasted a whole row of posts on top of their existing driveway. The homeowner goes "uh, are my gates going to open into that mess?" I spent the next 10 minutes awkwardly undoing stuff while they watched. Honestly, it taught me that flashy shortcuts are great for solo work but you gotta slow down when someone is looking over your shoulder. Has anyone else had a tool trick totally blow up mid-demo like that?

Man that reminds me of when I was showing a buddy how to use the undo history in Photoshop and I accidentally hit the wrong hotkey that cleared like 50 steps of work on a logo he was liking. He just stared at me and said "so that feature is working great for you huh." The whole room went quiet and I had to rebuild the whole thing from memory while he grabbed coffee. Nothing makes you feel more like a clown than a tool failing the exact moment you try to show off with it. At least you could undo your mess, I had to start from scratch with no backup.

Jump right in and you realize it's the same reason I never let anyone watch me parallel park. Soon as there's an audience, your brain forgets how to do the thing you've done a thousand times. It's like the universe knows exactly when to pull the rug and make you look like you just picked up the tool for the first time.
