Vent: My favorite vector tool plugin broke after the latest update

I spent 2 hours last Tuesday trying to fix a plugin I use for auto-tracing sketches in Illustrator, and it just kept crashing. The developer hasn't updated it in 8 months, so now I'm stuck doing everything by hand again. Has anyone found a solid replacement that actually works with the newest version?

Did you try rolling back to the previous version of Illustrator?
