Spent 3 days on a color palette, then a barista in Portland fixed it with one question

I was tweaking a brand palette for a coffee shop redesign and kept fighting between two similar greens. This barista at Stumptown on Belmont leaned over my laptop and asked, 'What does the packaging look like in bad lighting at 7am?' It clicked instantly. Now I run every color choice through that dumb, brilliant question before I send anything. Anyone else got a random stranger shortcut that stuck with you?

That trick works for everything, it's basically just testing things in the real world instead of your head.
