PSA: I spent $80 on a Figma plugin that just copies the 'paste over selection' shortcut
Saw an ad for a plugin that promised to 'revolutionize' my layout work. Bought it, installed it, and the main feature was literally just Command+Shift+V on Mac. That's the built in shortcut to paste something into a selected frame. I checked the code and it was 12 lines. Has anyone else been burned by a plugin that does nothing new?

Honestly, that reminds me of the time I downloaded a "super font manager" that was just a bad copy of my Mac's own Font Book app. It even had the same sorting options, just with a darker theme. I felt so dumb for not checking the description better. The plugin market feels like the wild west sometimes, where basic features get repackaged as premium tools. Makes you wonder how many other shortcuts are being sold back to us.

You know, I used to be one of those people who'd just buy plugins and courses without thinking. I figured if someone put it together, it had to be worth something, right? But hearing you and the_sage talk about it, I'm starting to realize I've been kind of a sucker. I bought a "productivity system" once that was literally just a checklist of things like "make your bed" and "drink water." Felt like I paid twenty bucks for a piece of paper my mom could have written for free. It's embarrassing how easy it is to get hooked by that flashy sales page when the whole thing is just common sense dressed up as a secret. You guys are making me re-think every impulse buy I've made in the last year.

Man, @adams82 is right about the wild west feeling. It's not just plugins. Saw a "productivity course" last year that was just a long video explaining how to use the Pomodoro timer app I already had. The whole thing was basically "set timer for 25 minutes and work." Felt like paying someone to read the app's help page to me. These things just repackage common sense and hope you don't notice.
