My boss in Austin said learning all the hotkeys was a waste of time
We were working on a big branding project last year and I was trying to show him how using 'Shift + R' to repeat my last action in Illustrator saved me hours. He told me to stop messing with 'tricks' and just focus on the design. It really stuck with me because I think knowing the tools is part of the job. Does anyone else work with people who don't see the value in speeding up the boring parts?

Ever tried showing him how much faster the work gets done?

Dave at my old job used to do this thing where he'd rewrite whole reports instead of just fixing the typos. Took weeks before anyone realized he was just flexing his formatting skills.

Yeah I mean I just started doing it anyway and the work got done faster. @oscarwilliams has a point, sometimes showing them the result is the only way. My old boss came around when he saw I finished layouts in half the time.
