Grid overrides or smart guides... am I the only one who switches teams?

Last month in Chicago I was building a 12-column layout and caught myself toggling smart guides off mid-task, then on again ten minutes later. Grids give me exact spacing but slow me down when I'm eyeballing a hero section. Smart guides feel faster until I need to align 5 cards precisely, then I'm hunting for the snap I turned off. Is the shortcut really picking one system, or do you all just stick it out with one and accept the tradeoff?
