Vent: My Figma autolayout broke after 3 months and I lost a whole project
Was showing off my portfolio site to a senior designer I met online. Clicked on a case study page and everything was misaligned. Turns out i had set up autolayout wrong back in January and nested 4 frames deep with gaps that just collapsed under certain screen sizes. Spent literally 6 hours rebuilding that page from scratch. Has anyone else had autolayout fail on them in a weird way?

Spent literally 6 hours rebuilding that page from scratch" - that's rough, man. I used to think autolayout was foolproof. Told myself it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Then one of my client projects got wrecked by a nested gap collapse. Same deal as yours. Had to redo four pages over a weekend. Changed my mind real quick. Now I check my autolayout settings every single time I open a file.

Oh man, the nested gap collapse is a special kind of nightmare. It's like the autolayout version of a trust fall where everyone just drops you. I swear I've started treating it like a haunted house, I peek around every corner before I commit to anything.
