Two portfolio reviews gave me opposite advice on case study length

One senior designer told me everything needed to fit on one screen, no scrolling. Said recruiters flip through 50 portfolios a day. Then a hiring manager at a studio said they wanted to see the full process, sketches included, even if it meant 4-5 scrolls. Who's right? I feel like it depends on the company size or culture maybe. What's been your experience with this?

That "it depends on the company size" thing you said really resonates with me. I've seen the same split and honestly think both are right depending on where you're applying.

@webb.stella nailed it - the real trick is knowing which door you're knocking on. One screen for big corporate HR filters, full process for studios where the actual team will see it.
