Tried a 'less is more' portfolio layout and got way more interview calls
I redid my portfolio website about 6 weeks ago, cutting my project count from 12 down to just 4 of my absolute strongest pieces. I was worried it would look thin, but I spent way more time on each case study, adding process shots and explaining my choices. In the last month, I've had 5 recruiters reach out, which is double my usual rate. I think having fewer, deeper projects made my skills clearer and kept people from clicking away. Has anyone else seen better results after trimming down their portfolio work?

Wait, you cut it down to just FOUR projects? That's wild, I would've been way too scared to go that small. But five recruiters in a month is crazy good, maybe I need to be that brave too.

Just gonna play devil's advocate here, but @rowanp15, those 5 calls might be coincidence or a slow hiring market shifting. Four projects could also make you look narrow or junior to some people who want to see range. I've seen friends get shut out with tiny portfolios too.
