Rant: My portfolio site crashed during a job interview... now I'm rethinking everything.

Some say a PDF backup is key for interviews, but others think it looks unprofessional. My site went down at the worst moment... Curious where you all stand on this.

My friend's portfolio site crashed minutes before his Zoom interview, pure panic mode. He fumbled through his downloads and sent a PDF to the hiring manager right then. Now he swears by having that backup ready on every device. But who decides if a PDF is unprofessional when the alternative is a blank screen? Maybe showing you can adapt is better than pretending nothing ever goes wrong.

Yeah that "blank screen" alternative is way worse. A PDF just shows you're prepared for reality, not living in a perfect world.

Totally agree. I once had my whole presentation deck crash, and the PDF saved me. Now I keep one in my email drafts before any call.
