My case study page was getting zero clicks for 3 straight months
I had a project I was really proud of sitting on my portfolio site since July, checked analytics and it had 0 views. Realized I buried the results in the 4th paragraph so nobody stuck around to see them. Anybody else had to completely rewrite a case study structure because people weren't reading past the first screen?

Oh man, that stings. I've totally been there and it's such a weird feeling when you think something is good and it just... sits there.
It's like that thing in real life where people make a really great point but they bury it under so much extra stuff. You know, like when someone asks you how your weekend was and you start with the weather and the traffic and they're already zoning out before you get to the fun part. We do the same thing with our work. We want to show we did all the steps, but nobody cares about the steps until they know it actually worked. I had to chop up one of my case studies and literally put the biggest result in bold at the very top. Turns out people will read the rest if they know the payoff first. It's kind of like that meme about recipes where you just scroll past the life story to get to the ingredient list.

That's basically what I read about scannable design - people just glance at results first.
