Hot take: I killed my Behance page on purpose and got 3 real clients in 2 months
Everyone keeps saying you need a big public portfolio to get work, but I tried the opposite last spring. I pulled my whole Behance page down and made one simple PDF with 4 projects, each one showing the problem, my sketches, and the final result. I sent it to 11 small shops around Portland and heard back from 5, which is way more than the 1 reply I got from 60 cold emails with a link to my old page. Recruiters kept clicking the link and bouncing in seconds, but nobody bounces off a 6 page PDF that loads instantly. I think the whole "post everything, everywhere" thing is backwards for people starting out. Anyone else get better results from a small closed portfolio than a public one?
