Hit 500 portfolio views from a single Reddit comment, still weird

I mean, I've been posting my book on and off for like 8 years and never got past maybe 40 views a day. Then last Tuesday someone shared it on a design sub and suddenly I'm at 517 in one afternoon, mostly from people who liked the way I labeled my case study photos. It made me wonder if I should be spending more time on sharing than on polishing pixels, has anyone else seen a random spike like that and figured out what actually drove it?

The spike is a fluke, not a signal. One lucky Reddit post hitting the right crowd at the right time tells you nothing about what works long term. If you chase that high, you will waste weeks trying to force another random wave. The people who bookmarked your case study photos are not your readers. They liked a label, not your book. Polishing pixels is the only part you control, and that is what builds a real audience over years. A one day surge just means you got lucky once, so do not let it mess with your head.

Yeah, "force another random wave" is basically my fitness routine too, nothing but flukes and sore muscles.
