I actually used to roll my eyes at people who said templates were a waste. I thought, you know, it's just a tool, who cares. But then I dropped $180 on one of those popular ones and spent like three weeks trying to make it look like me, not the person who made it. Ended up just deleting everything and starting from scratch with a basic setup. Big shoutout to @olivia_barnes97 for putting it so simply, templates really aren't personality. It's wild how much time and money we throw at something that just makes us all look the same.

Oof, expensive way to learn templates aren't personality.

240 bucks is what I spent on a template bundle from some hype beast creator last year. Here's the thing nobody talks about - most of those templates are built with specific fonts and spacing that break the second you swap out the placeholder text. I spent more time fixing broken layouts than actually writing.
