What happened when I tried to match a Pantone 877 metallic silver in-house last Tuesday

Ran 4 test prints on different stock and every single one came out looking like muddy aluminum foil until I realized my anilox roll was shot, has anyone else had this issue with metallic inks on uncoated paper?

Disagree completely, that anilox roll probably wasn't your problem. Metallic inks on uncoated stock are always a crapshoot (even with brand new gear) because the paper fibers just soak up that shine and leave you with flat mud. You were chasing a unicorn from the start, honestly. The real trick is to use a coated sheet or a primer, not blame the anilox. Test prints almost never look good with metallics on uncoated anyway, it's a known headache. Maybe try a different ink brand that's designed for rough paper next time, instead of swapping out your roll.
