Spent $140 on a batch of 16pt cardstock that jammed my press 6 times in one afternoon
Ordered 500 sheets of 16pt matte from a place in Reno because it was on sale, and the first 3 sheets fed fine then the rest started double feeding and jamming at the rollers. Lost about 40 sheets to crinkles and creases before I killed the job and called it. Turned out the batch was cut about 0.5mm off spec, so the feeder kept grabbing two at once. Anyone else had a run ruined by off size stock, and did the supplier make it right or just blame your machine?
That "0.5mm off spec" thing is the same story everywhere, not just paper. A batch of tiles that's a hair too big, a batch of screws that's a hair too small, lumber that's marked 2x4 but isn't. The spec gets treated as a suggestion and you're the one who eats the cost when your equipment can't handle the slop. I've seen suppliers hide behind "within tolerance" on stuff like this because they know most people won't measure it and prove it.
