Noticed a weird thing at a print shop in Austin
Was picking up some business cards at this little shop off South Congress and saw they use a loupe to check every single sheet for registration marks. Handing a 10x magnifier to a press operator is like giving a mechanic a stethoscope. Anybody else's shop do QC checks like that or is it just the bougie places?

Buddy of mine works at this print shop in Portland that does all the menus for the local food carts. He told me they have a whole station with a magnifying lamp and a ruler with a tiny scale on it. The owner will literally stop the press if a cyan dot is off by half a millimeter. One time my friend brought in a rush job from a taco spot and the owner made him reprint 500 menus because the registration cross was slightly crooked. Said the owner stood there watching him load the paper again.

Man that owner sounds like he genuinely cares about his work, must be nice to have that kind of pride in what you do. Your buddy is lucky to work for someone like that @garcia.miles, even if it means reprinting 500 menus sometimes.
