My coworker called my logo 'safe' and now I can't unsee it

She said it during a critique session at our agency in Austin last Friday and honestly, I've been second-guessing every curve and color choice since, has anyone else had a throwaway comment completely mess with your design confidence?

Consider if safe means it actually works for the client's brand.

Gotta say @charlie_stone72 hit it. Safe design that actually fits the brand beats risky junk any day.

Oh man, that stings. Here's a take I haven't seen yet - maybe "safe" is actually a compliment to your client's trust. You know how some designers throw wild, risky logos at clients just to get a reaction? That's what we call "shock for the sake of shock." But if your logo is safe because it clearly solves their problem without confusing anyone, that's a skill most designers never master. Like, a good toilet flange gasket is boring as hell but it does its job perfectly and nobody notices. Your logo might be the same way - doing its job so well that people forget to even question it. Give it a week, then look at it again without her voice in your head.
