My $120 business card order showed up with a typo I proofread 5 times
I checked that spelling over and over before sending it to the printer in Cleveland, and somehow still missed 'manger' instead of 'manager' until the box arrived last Tuesday. Has anyone else had a proofing fail that cost them real cash, or am I just the only one who needs a second pair of eyes on everything?

...and honestly that's the thing, proofreading your own work is basically a trap. Your brain sees what it expects to see, not what's actually there. I've done the same thing with a batch of flyers and had "public" spelled as "pubic" on 500 of them. Had to eat the cost and reprint because there was no way I was handing those out. Now I always run stuff through a couple different text readers, like I'll copy it into Word and have it read it out loud to me, or I'll switch the font to something wild like Comic Sans just to trick my brain into actually looking at the letters. Also, print one single test copy before you drop a big order, even if it costs a little extra in shipping. That one proof copy has saved me way more money than it's ever cost me. And the "manger" thing, yeah, that's a classic one because it's a real word so spellcheck won't catch it. Don't beat yourself up, you're not alone, we've all paid the stupid tax at least once.
