Matte vs gloss laminate on 500 business cards, I made the wrong call
I had to pick between matte and gloss for a client's cards last month and went with matte because it felt classier in the sample. Turns out their logo has a ton of dark navy areas and the matte shows every fingerprint and scuff from the second you touch it. Would you reprint or just tell them to get a different finish next time?
My buddy runs a small design shop and had the exact same issue last year with a client's dark green logo. He tried to push through it, but the cards looked dirty within a week and the client ended up tossing them anyway. He reordered in gloss the next day and ate the cost, but it saved the relationship.
