Finally got my print calibration right after 6 months of guesswork

I was fighting with banding and off colors on my Epson 3880 since last November. Turned out I just needed to run the nozzle check and clean the print heads, something I skipped because I thought it was a driver issue. Anyone else waste way too much time on the wrong fix?.

Some printers have such flaky driver software that you end up chasing your tail through layer settings and color management before you even think about the physical hardware. Not everyone's first instinct is "oh, let me print a test pattern" when they've got a complex calibration issue staring them down.
