Appreciation post: Hit 5,000 business cards printed from my home setup this week
I never expected to actually need that many, but a local coffee shop chain ordered 2,000 for their new location and now I'm wondering if I should upgrade my guillotine cutter or just keep using the old one I have - has anyone else had their hobby turn into something bigger like that?

Hold up on that guillotine upgrade for a sec. I'd actually argue against expanding right now. You hit 5,000 cards and that's awesome but one big order from a coffee chain doesn't mean a steady stream is coming. Lots of people jump on upgrading equipment after a win and then their hobby turns into a side hustle they hate because they're stuck chasing orders to pay for the new stuff. Keep using your old cutter until you have at least three more regular clients asking for the same volume. Otherwise you're just spending money on a machine that sits there most of the time.

Respect the caution, but 2,000 cards isn't really one order - if they're for a new location, that's likely a trial run where they'll reorder if they work out. Keep an eye on whether they come back for more before you put the wallet away.
