Watched a new stylist in Denver section hair with a rattail comb and realized my method was wrong
I've been using a regular comb for years, but seeing her get those perfectly clean sections in half the time was a wake-up call. I bought one the next day and my balayage placements have been way more precise. Anyone else have a simple tool that changed your whole process?

Actually, a rattail comb is great for sectioning, but it's not always about speed. The real benefit is the fine point letting you pick out super precise subsections, especially for techniques like balayage. A regular comb can work just fine for basic parting if you're good with your tension. The tool helps, but a lot of it still comes down to the stylist's hand control.

Yeah, and @emma_ramirez is right about the control, but I've also seen the rattail's point protect the scalp way better on sensitive clients during those fine sections.
