Was dead set against keratin treatments until a client made me try one
I've been bleaching and coloring hair for about 12 years, and I always thought keratin treatments were just expensive hype that fried your hair. A client of mine from Cleveland begged me to try it on her super frizzy 3B curls after I told her no for six months. I did it, her hair stayed smooth for almost 4 months, and she came back with two referrals. Anyone else had something they dismissed for years that actually worked?

Flip the whole thing around and think about what keratin does to hair that's already chemically processed. Bleached hair is basically a sponge full of holes, so when you dump protein on it, those holes get filled and the hair gets heavy. That weight can actually make fine, overprocessed hair snap off at the root because it's too weak to hold itself up. I've seen stylists swear by it for frizz but ignore that clients lose half their length after three treatments. Maybe the real hidden cost isn't money, it's the thickness you trade for shine.

Had a friend who did the whole keratin thing on her bleached hair. Looked amazing for like two weeks, then she started finding little broken strands on her pillow. By the end of the month she had to chop it to her chin to even it out.
