Walked into a beauty supply shop in Austin and felt totally lost

I popped into a small beauty supply store off South Congress last weekend looking for a new toner. The owner asked me three questions about my hair porosity, pH balance, and protein levels before she'd even show me a bottle. I've been doing hair for 7 years and never thought that deep about it. Has anyone else run into a shop clerk who made you second-guess your whole routine?

Why do you want the easy way out? That shop owner did you a favor by treating you like an adult who actually cares about their hair. You've been doing hair for 7 years and never once thought about what your hair actually needs? That's exactly why so many people walk around with fried, damaged hair from using the wrong stuff. The clerk was trying to help you avoid wasting money on a toner that would wreck your hair. Maybe take a minute to learn something instead of getting offended when someone knows more than you.
