Tried that new purple shampoo bar instead of liquid and my highlights turned muddy

I swapped out my usual purple liquid toner for a shampoo bar from a local shop in Denver last week because I wanted less plastic waste. After two washes my blonde highlights had this weird grayish tint that looked nothing like the cool tones I was going for. Has anyone else had shampoo bars mess with their color or did I just get a bad batch?

Did I accidentally sign up for a science experiment instead of a haircare routine?

Oh no that grayish tint sounds so frustrating! I feel you on trying to be more eco friendly with the bar shampoo and getting totally burned. I had a similar thing happen with a coconut oil based bar from a farmers market here in Portland, and my caramel highlights turned this weird greenish brown that looked like swamp water. It took three clarifying washes and a trip back to my stylist to fix it. Sometimes those bars just have different pH levels or oils that don't play nice with toners, especially if they're handmade and not super consistent.
