Tried that new bond repair treatment from the beauty supply
I tested the latest bond repair treatment on a client with bleach-damaged hair and it left her ends brittle and snapping after three washes. Turns out it has too much protein for over-processed hair and you need to balance it with moisture treatments. Has anyone else had this protein overload issue with bond builders?

Used to swear by bond builders for everything but this made me reconsider. Protein overload is real and a lot of these products don't warn you about balancing with moisture. Now I'm more careful about mixing treatments instead of just dumping more protein on damaged hair.

Three washes and it snapped? Did you check if the bond builder had keratin or collagen listed first in the ingredients?

Taylor's got a point about checking ingredients but @the_taylor is ignoring that the order doesn't matter much if the product is cheaply made. Even with keratin listed first, a bad formula can still break down after three washes. Some bond builders just react with hot water or different shampoos and fall apart no matter what's in them.
