TIL that a $12 color wheel and one redo saved a wedding party of 7 from looking like oompa loompas
Had a bride's mom come in Tuesday for a trial run on her gray coverage, and I mixed my usual 20 volume developer without thinking twice. Under my shop lights it looked fine, but she stepped outside into the sun and her roots went straight up orange against the rest of her hair. I grabbed my little color wheel from the drawer and we sat there for 15 minutes matching swatches to her natural shade instead of guessing. Mixed a new formula with 10 volume, redid the whole thing, and it came out soft and even. She booked all six of her daughters with me for the wedding morning, which is easily the biggest single booking I've had at this chair. Do you all make clients step outside for a daylight check before you call a color done, or is that just me being paranoid now?
