The 3-month difference between box dye and salon color is honestly wild

I did a side-by-side of my cousin's hair last week - she'd been using box dye for like 2 years, then let me do a proper single process for 3 months. The before was this muddy, uneven brown with nasty orange undertones near the roots. After 3 months of pro color (and me trimming the damage bit by bit), her hair actually reflects light instead of looking like a dead carpet. Has anyone else had a client fight you on switching from box dye, then come back shocked at the change?

I mean once they see the difference in how the light hits it, there's no going back for most of them.

Right, "once they see the difference in how the light hits it" like it's some kind of religious conversion. Next thing you know, they'll be handing out pamphlets on street corners. "Excuse me, sir, have you accepted our Lord and Savior, Proper Lighting?" Meanwhile I'm over here just happy if my lamp doesn't flicker and give me a headache. But hey, at least they're passionate about something that doesn't involve arguing about politics.
